Registering a Newborn in Canada 

To obtain an Egyptian birth certificate for a child born in Canada, parents must submit their application through the official Egyptian diplomatic missions in Canada.

Responsible Missions:

• Embassy of Egypt in Ottawa — responsible for Ontario and general areas
• Consulate General of Egypt in Montreal — serves Quebec and eastern regions

Required Documents:

1. Original long-form Canadian birth certificate of the newborn.
2. Valid Egyptian passports or national ID cards for both parents.
3. An official Egyptian marriage certificate, or a Canadian marriage certificate with a certified Arabic translation.
4. Completed and signed civil registry / birth registration application form from the embassy or consulate.

Steps:

1. Translate & Authenticate: Have the Canadian birth and marriage certificates translated into Arabic if required, and ensure they are authenticated through Global Affairs Canada as needed by the specific mission
2. Submit to Mission: Deliver or mail the complete application file — original documents, passport copies, and applicable fees — to the Embassy in Ottawa or the Consulate in Montreal
3. Processing in Egypt: The diplomatic mission coordinates directly with the Civil Status Organisation (مصلحة الأحوال المدنية) in Cairo to issue the official computerised Egyptian birth certificate.
